Illustration

Honor enters the story at the end of Series 1 with news that changes Peter’s understanding of Simon’s disappearance: she is pregnant and says Simon is the father. Her arrival gives the family mystery a future-facing consequence, since Peter must consider not only what happened to his half-brother but what the child will need.

By Series 2, Honor and baby Daniel live with Peter, and the household has taken on a new shape during the year between series. Simon’s return disturbs it. Honor’s departure later in the run leaves Peter and Lyle with different forms of loss and uncertainty, while her feelings for Lyle complicate the friendship among the adults around Daniel.

Across the Series

Honor changes the Kingdom family story when she arrives at the end of Series 1 and tells Peter that Simon is the father of her unborn child. In the year that follows, she and baby Daniel become part of Peter’s household, while Lyle’s feelings for her complicate their friendship.

Simon’s return in Series 2 unsettles the fragile arrangement. Honor leaves Market Shipborough, and the show leaves her longer-term relationship with Simon, Peter and Lyle open as the family adjusts to Simon’s presence.

Relationship lens

Honor turns Simon’s private history into a continuing responsibility through Daniel. Her connection with Lyle creates loyalty without offering an easy romantic resolution.
